Workshop Description: Family Justice Centers (FJCs) play a critical role in fostering collaboration among multidisciplinary partners, but the effectiveness of this collaboration hinges on a well-informed and consistently trained network of professionals. This workshop explores innovative tools and strategies to create, implement, and enhance impactful training programs that engage your community and partner agencies, including local government, courts, and law enforcement. Participants will learn how to identify gaps in training, use technology to deliver accessible content, and strengthen cross-sector partnerships to improve outcomes for victims and survivors.
Learning Objectives
- Identify Training Needs Across Agencies: Evaluate gaps in knowledge, skills, and communication within multidisciplinary teams to build tailored and impactful training programs.
- Leverage Innovative Tools and Platforms: Explore practical tools, such as e-learning platforms, webinars, and interactive workshops, to deliver engaging, accessible, and scalable training programs.
- Foster Collaboration and Buy-In: Develop strategies to engage local government, courts, and law enforcement partners in implementing cross-sector training initiatives that improve coordinated responses to violence and build stronger systems of support.
OFS Nashville’s training model includes:
- Mandated domestic violence training of all Metro Government employees and supervisors
- Providing domestic violence, sexual assault, and trafficking education to female inmates (RISE program)
- Videos for clients, partners, and public including high risk indicators, strangulation, what happens in court, power and control and cycle of violence, and the city’s domestic violence movement
- Roll-call trainings at police precincts
- Advocate Certification program
- Internal FJC events – socials, workshop screenings, movie screenings
Train the Trainer (Parts 1 & 2)
Workshop Description: This interactive workshop is designed for staff members eager to enhance their training, facilitation, and public speaking abilities. In Part 1, participants will delve into essential skills and tools for effective training, including curriculum development, public speaking techniques, and dynamic facilitation strategies. The focus will be on creating engaging and impactful training sessions that resonate with diverse audiences.
In Part 2, attendees will have the opportunity to put their new skills into practice by developing and presenting their own mini-trainings. Participants are encouraged to choose topics they are passionate about, with a focus on fun, funny, and light-hearted themes to create an enjoyable and supportive environment. This hands-on experience will boost confidence and refine presentation skills, preparing participants to lead impactful training sessions in their professional roles.
