(Metro Nashville) Workplace Response to Domestic Violence (Staff or Supervisors)
Workshop Description: This course focuses on domestic violence and how it affects the workplace. During this training, we will discuss what domestic violence is, how Metro Government responds, and identify services available to support Metro employees who may be experiencing domestic violence. Participants will learn how to create and promote a safe and supportive workplace environment in which employees feel comfortable discussing domestic violence issues and seeking assistance from the Metro Office of Family Safety & partners.
Creating Effective Workplace Responses to Domestic Violence
Workshop Description: Domestic violence can significantly impact the workplace, affecting employee safety, productivity, and overall well-being. This workshop focuses on equipping employers, managers, and HR professionals with the knowledge and tools needed to recognize signs of domestic violence, establish comprehensive policies and procedures, and effectively respond to disclosures of domestic violence in the workplace. Participants will learn how to create a supportive and safe work environment that prioritizes the health and safety of all employees.
Learning Objectives:
- Recognize Signs of Domestic Violence in the Workplace: Participants will learn to identify the signs and indicators of domestic violence among employees, understand the potential impact on the workplace, and gain strategies for proactive monitoring and support.
- Develop and Implement Policies and Procedures: Participants will gain insights into creating and implementing effective workplace policies and procedures that address domestic violence, including safety planning, confidentiality measures, and legal considerations.
- Respond Effectively to Disclosures: Participants will be equipped with best practices for responding to disclosures of domestic violence, including how to provide appropriate support, connect employees with resources, and maintain a safe and supportive work environment.

Workshop Description: Sexual harassment in the workplace can undermine employee morale, safety, and productivity, creating a hostile work environment. This workshop is designed to help employers, managers, and HR professionals recognize the signs of sexual harassment, develop and enforce robust policies and procedures, and respond appropriately to reports of harassment. Participants will gain the tools and knowledge necessary to foster a respectful and safe workplace culture that prioritizes the well-being of all employees.

- Recognize Signs of Sexual Harassment: Participants will learn to identify various forms of sexual harassment in the workplace, understand the impact on victims and the workplace environment, and develop strategies for proactive detection and intervention.
- Develop and Implement Policies and Procedures: Participants will gain insights into creating and implementing comprehensive workplace policies and procedures to prevent and address sexual harassment, including clear reporting mechanisms, investigation processes, and disciplinary actions.
- Respond Effectively to Reports of Harassment: Participants will be equipped with best practices for responding to reports of sexual harassment, including providing appropriate support to victims, conducting thorough and impartial investigations, and maintaining a safe and respectful workplace environment.
